2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Goes Electric, but Mild Hybrid Is Coming

Mercedes-Benz is transitioning its CLA model to embrace electrification, introducing both electric and mild-hybrid variants in the upcoming 2026 release.

Electric Variants:

  • CLA 250+ with EQ Technology: This model features a single rear-mounted electric motor delivering 268 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. It utilizes an 85 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 492 miles (approximately 750 km) on a single charge.
  • CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology: Equipped with dual motors providing all-wheel drive, this variant produces 349 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque, also powered by the 85 kWh battery.

Mild-Hybrid Variant:

  • Hybrid Model: Following the electric versions, a mild-hybrid option will be introduced, combining a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a 48-volt electric system. This setup aims to enhance fuel efficiency and performance.

The 2026 CLA is built on Mercedes-Benz’s new Modular Architecture (MMA), designed to support a range of powertrains, including internal combustion engines, hybrids, and electric systems.

The electric models are expected to launch globally in the second half of 2026, with the mild-hybrid variant following later.

These developments underscore Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to offering diverse powertrain options to cater to varying consumer preferences and regional market demands.
